BACKGROUND:

In December 2008, the State of Missouri, St. Louis County and St. Louis City officially formed the Midwest-China Hub Commission for the purpose of developing an international freight and commercial hub in St. Louis—a concept better known as The Big Idea. This Idea, as authored by United States senators Christopher “Kit” Bond and Claire McCaskill, proposes that the St. Louis region become an international gateway into the American Heartland through dedicated cargo flights connecting St. Louis with Asia, Latin America and other global markets and through development of a strong economic hub of two-way trade and foreign direct investment.

MISSION:

Leverage the power of partnership to launch regularly scheduled international freight service at Lambert St. Louis International Airport while increasing global trade and foreign direct investment in Missouri and the Midwest U.S.
